Debbie’s ‘One Word Sunday’ this week, is ‘Symmetry’. Without having to look too hard, I found this photo taken when we stayed at The Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga a few years ago. They aren’t the most comfortable looking seats, but they certainly are symmetrical.

Here’s something that isn’t man-made and far more attractive. My orchids are doing really well at the moment. I have ten of them in flower and this one has had identical twins.

I don’t know about you, but I’m finding it very difficult to focus on anything but this atrocious and abominable Russian invasion of Ukraine, but if you would like to join in Debbie’s ‘One Word Sunday’, just click the link.
Stunning view. I could live with that!!!
Thanks, Kathy. Yes, not too shabby at all. 🙂
The orchids are beautiful. Are they cattaleyas?
Thanks, Lavinia. Yes I think they are. They have such big and beautiful flowers.
The Oyster Box Hotel brings back many memories for me, all good ones! Your orchid are wonderful, growing them is a skill I don’t have..
Me too, Gerrie. So many happy memories made at The Oyster Box.

Your orchids are quite pretty.
And I agree: hard to focus on anything but the war on Ukraine… I’m too much a “student” of History to not be overly concerned.
Take care.
🇺🇦
Thanks, Brian. Holding my breath every day for an end to this cruelty and madness.
I’ve stoped holding it. I was getting blue in the face.
We all need some beauty in our lives, especially now and your orchids are so lovely…thank you for brighting the day.
Thanks so much, Karen.
The chairs are so unusual, but the orchids take the day. 🙂
The war in Ukraine is heartbreaking – I so wish someone would stop the evil Putin. 😢
Thanks, Sue. Yes, he needs to be stopped in his tracks, by whatever means works. 😡
Dear Sylvia – you add joy to my day by sharing compassion, beauty, design and great conversations. Sending many hugs to way. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine.
Thanks, dear Rebecca. Many hugs coming your way too. 🤗🤗🤗
Nicely found!
Thanks, Sue.
Your matched pair of orchids are just stunning!
The chairs are so amazing!
War has always been horrible. Human beings can’t
seem to stop fighting amongst themselves.
Flowers can being peace to soul.
have a peaceful day dear friend, Eddie
Thanks, Eddie. Yes, we can thankfully find peace in nature.
thank goodness!
Beautiful symmetries, Sylvia! 🌷🤗🕊
Thanks so much, dear Marina. xxx
xoxoxo
Your orchids are gorgeous. I find that I have to dive into nature either taking walks or posting about it in order to hang on to some sense of sanity… We sure live in difficult times. We must hang on as best we can… I find it best to limit my time watching the news. 🇺🇦🙏🇺🇦
Thanks, Gunta. I find that going out walking every morning as well as exercising at the gym helps keep me on an even keel. xxx
Beautiful orchids, the chairs are certainly interesting.
Thanks, Dawn. My orchids give me a lot of joy to see them. 😘
So special and two for the price of one
Thanks, Marylou. A great bargain. 🙂
Your orchids are beautiful.
Thanks, Carol.
Perfect examples, Sylvia. Although I prefer the flowers as well, the chairs are nice a bright if not really comfortable looking. 🙂 I’m excited because an orchid plant that my husband got me last year is going to bloom again. I haven’t had much luck with that before. Ah, yes, the war. Doing my bit to provide some small amount of escapism and beauty on my blog while it goes on. 😦
janet
Thanks, Janet. Yes, it is exciting when orchids decide to bloom again.
Oh, they are such lovely pairs!
Thank you, YC. 😀
Stunning orchids!
Thanks, Anabel. They just suddenly appeared. 🙂
How often we take a photo without knowing how it will be used. This one suits the purpose perfectly.
Thanks, Lulu. Yes, you’re so right. 🙂
Oh, I do like those chairs. Not sure I’d want them in my house, but there is something very welcoming about them, with arms inviting me to sit down.
Thanks, Debbie. Love your comment about the welcoming arms. 🙂
I keep going back to the news, and then wondering if I’m reading correct information, but all of it is horrendous. How do the perpetrators sleep at night? Lovely orchids, Ad.
Thanks, Jo. xxx I have no idea how such repulsive people manage to live with themselves.
😧💟
Great photos Sylvia.
Thanks so much, Aletta.
It is terrible what is happening, you are so right. It is nice to see your Orchids bloom, a bit of sunshine and enjoymetn for you!
Thanks, Ute. Nature is very comforting through the bad times. The news is so disturbing though.
Your orchids are so beautiful! I agree about Ukraine. I am thinking about them a lot and about what we should try to do to help them.
Thanks, Lynette. Me too. It’s difficult to know what’s the best and most effective way to help. I was just reading an article about doing thorough research before donating.

Your orchids are lovely and that top photo of the seats is very charming. I’m with you when it comes to the war. Take care, take it easy, Sylvia, take photos!
Thanks so much, Babsje. ❤
