Pull Up A Seat Week 32: Travel Memories.

Not much travelling going on at the moment, but it’s good to look back on happy times.

Here’s my Mom-in-law eight years ago, when she was only ninety-nine. On our walk around Winkworth Arboretum in Surrey, we sat down for a rest on this beautifully chainsaw-carved owl bench.

Last year, whilst in Key West, we visited the Butterfly Conservatory, where there was of course, a butterfly bench. I think it was designed for decoration rather than comfort.

Not far away, was Ernest Hemingway’s  house and museum. He was a great cat lover and everywhere we looked there were cats lazing around, most of them polydactyl, which means that they have six or more toes on each paw.

Pull Up A Seat Challenge: Sitting In My Safe Space

Here’s my seat where I sit and converse with my three goldfish. I sometimes wonder whether they get bored swimming around in the same small pond and wish that they could get out into the big wide world, or maybe like myself they are content for now to be confined to their own safe space, out of harm’s way.

This was my comfortable seat yesterday, savouring a glass of Prosecco whilst contemplating whether my Easter Bunny should live or die. Sad to say, he did not survive the day.

Pull Up A Seat And Freeze Your Butt Off

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge Week 8’ had me thinking of really cool seats that I’ve seen and experienced.

Visiting Tahoe for Christmas 2018, I sat on this stone wall. The icy cold even found it’s way through my three layers of clothes.

I’m sure these two locals were used to the cold and probably met here most days for a chat.

On a previous Christmas visit to our son in New Jersey, this was the view through his family room window.

However, the coolest seat I ever sat on was this one in Antarctica.

Pull Up A Seat In Johannesburg

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge’ is now on week 47 and I’ve found a few more seats from my travels.

At Johannesburg OR Tambo airport, Nelson Mandela can be found sitting on a bench as large as life.

A bit further along, Jack Daniels, whose premium Tennessee whiskey has become very popular in South Africa, also has his own bench.

On a visit to Johannesburg, our little granddaughter Sienna decided to join the flamboyant ‘cowch potato’ Daisy sitting on a bench reading the ‘Daily Mooews’
