Feathers On Friday: Great Egret Gets His Fish

Great Egret really believed he’d got lucky yesterday lunchtime. I could almost hear that poor fish thinking, “Uh-oh, I’m about to be someone’s lunch!”

He was a bit too big for Great Egret to manoevre and making a supreme effort, he managed and wriggle free.

But Great Egret wasn’t giving up so easily. “Not so fast, young fishie! Here I come again.”

Gotcha!”

Poor fishie really should have stayed home. Wishing you all a safe and peaceful weekend.

It’s A beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood.

“If you truly love Nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” ~ Vincent Van Gogh

Every morning, hubby and I go for a three mile walk around our community. We are so blessed with the weather here in Florida and as long as we get out whilst it’s still quite cool, it’s really pleasant. We see a few walkers  and cyclists on our route and always smile and wave, occasionally exchanging a few encouraging words, from the required distance of course. Whilst it’s good to see some of our human neighbours, the beauty of nature is the best thing about our walks.

This lovely garden has a beautiful and fragrant Frangipani in bloom.

Danny and Daisy weren’t taking any chances and crossed the road to maintain social distancing.

Robbie rabbit turned his back on me, just in case.

Sammy  was also not in the mood for socialising.

The Great Egret just ignored me as he snootily strutted his stuff.

Almost home and time for breakfast, as we passed this lovely Angel Trumpet vine.

I so look forward to our daily walks. As John Muir noted, “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.”  Wishing you all a peaceful and safe weekend.

Big Al says, “In the New Year, I’m going to keep my head above water and always have an eye out for a good opportunity.”

Mr GBH says, “I’m going to take some time out of each day to meditate and I refuse to stress about those things that I cannot control or change.”

Great Egret says, “When I choose to rise above the drama, the view is wonderful and the way forward becomes clearer.”

Woody wood stork says, “I always strive to have balance in my life. I stay calm and grounded whilst being totally focused on my goals.”

Grandpa Igasho is looking a bit dishevelled and rather concerned as he keeps a watch out for human predators from his safe perch high up in the trees. His New Year resolution is to always stay one step ahead of the opposition because you never know what their next move will be.

Last up but most important, Perry and Penny pelican say, “Whatever the question, always remember that love is the answer.”

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to visit my blog. I appreciate you all and wish you a very happy, healthy and successful 2020.

Six Word Saturday: Penny And Perry Collect An Entourage.

Looks like Mrs Penny Pelican has flown in to join her mate Perry, now that he’s sorted out their digs for the winter.

On their way back upstream, they were accompanied by an entourage of birds. The Great Egret led the parade, whilst Mr GBH proudly ‘rode shotgun’. The ducks, paddling for all they were worth, brought up the rear. It was quite a show.

The tri-coloured heron just looked on in astonishment.

For Debbie’s ‘Six Word Saturday’. Apologies that the photos taken through my bathroom window, aren’t the sharpest.

Hope your weekend is going well.

Mundane Monday In Florida

“What….Monday morning again? Well Mr. GE, if that was your weekend you’ve had it.”

DSCN7161

“Wow, the sun’s out! I guess I’ll spruce myself up and take a walk along the edge of the lake and see what I can find for breakfast.”

Wishing you all a great week ahead.
