Yesterday afternoon the doorbell rang, and there on the “Welcome” mat was a long thin box. When I saw the word ‘Flowers’ on it, I knew that it must be from one of my children for Mother’s Day. I quickly opened it, as I couldn’t imagine anything surviving for long in such a confined space. They had travelled overnight all the way from California. No card was in the box, but these beautiful pink roses and Inca lilies seemed to have come through their ordeal without too much trauma.
I hastened to put water and flower food into the lovely glass vase, and arranged them nicely. Now the quandary was deciding who to thank, as there was no indication as to who they were from. If I thanked my daughter and they weren’t from her, she might feel bad, and vice versa with my son. I decided to wait, as my son often phones on his way home from work, and thankfully he did. “Did you send me flowers?” Yes they were from him and he’d realized that he had forgotten to click the box after typing the message, so the mystery was solved.
I don’t think there can be anyone who doesn’t enjoy receiving flowers. A gift of flowers always makes my heart sing; how about you?
Wishing you all a splendid weekend, and a very special Mother’s Day wish to all you mothers out there in the blogosphere.
