Pull Up A Seat Challenge: Sitting In My Safe Space

Here’s my seat where I sit and converse with my three goldfish. I sometimes wonder whether they get bored swimming around in the same small pond and wish that they could get out into the big wide world, or maybe like myself they are content for now to be confined to their own safe space, out of harm’s way.

This was my comfortable seat yesterday, savouring a glass of Prosecco whilst contemplating whether my Easter Bunny should live or die. Sad to say, he did not survive the day.

I hope your weekend was also enjoyable.

Pull Up A Seat In Johannesburg

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge’ is now on week 47 and I’ve found a few more seats from my travels.

At Johannesburg OR Tambo airport, Nelson Mandela can be found sitting on a bench as large as life.

A bit further along, Jack Daniels, whose premium Tennessee whiskey has become very popular in South Africa, also has his own bench.

On a visit to Johannesburg, our little granddaughter Sienna decided to join the flamboyant ‘cowch potato’ Daisy sitting on a bench reading the ‘Daily Mooews’

Pull Up A Seat At The Garden Centre

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat’ challenge showcases many places one can sit and rest one’s self either comfortably or sometimes not so comfortably, as is the case with this one I found at my sister’s local garden centre in South Africa.

Just around the corner, was this cute couple all snuggled up on a tiny bench in the shade.

Pull Up A Seat, Mrs. Edison

Four years ago we visited the Edison Heritage garden in Fort Myers. Thomas Edison’s second wife, Mina Miller had a great love for the tranquility of formal gardens and created many beautiful ones in the grounds of their extensive winter estate.

This sculpture shows her sitting on a bench, peacefully admiring the plants around her.

This couple are resting a while to admire the ocean scene from a well-placed bench in my home town of Umhlanga Rocks. I really miss that view, and hope to be back there for a visit very soon.

Pull Up A Seat Photo Challenge: Two ‘Throw-backs’.

I decided to take part in XingfuMama’s photo challenge this week. All you need to do is post photos of objects one can sit upon.

Here’s a ‘throw-back’ from 1998, snapped by our son Jeff. Hubby and I were resting on a bench in a rainy Central Park before leaving for the airport on our way back to South Africa. I really loved that flowery umbrella and wish I knew where it eventually disappeared to.

Another memory from 6 years ago when our granddaughter Sienna was visiting us with her dad in Johannesburg. In our local shopping mall we came upon this rather flashily-dressed cow reading the Daily Mooews.
