Five Photos, Five Stories #5: A Walk in the Black Forest

Elaine of  ‘I used to be indecisive’ blog, has nominated me to do the ‘5 Photos, 5 Stories’ challenge. My final photo was taken in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park in Germany.

Almost two years ago, to celebrate her 100th birthday, my Mom-in law treated her immediate family to a Rhine cruise. When our ship docked in Breisach, we set out for a half hour mini-hike through the picturesque landscape of the Black Forest. After passing mountain goats grazing amongst the rocks, the trail became quite steep and the ground underfoot, very rocky, so we left MiL sitting on a large boulder in the shade of a viaduct, whilst the rest of us climbed to the top. The bronze statue of a stag overlooking the ravine, is a reminder that such an animal once escaped hunters with a gigantic leap across the gorge. I don’t know whether it’s a true story or just a legend, but the statue is really amazing to see.

At this point, I’m supposed to nominate another blogger to take up the challenge, but haven’t had much success so far with this, so I’ll leave it open for any of you who may like to  do it. The challenge is quite simply to “post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”.

Five Photos, Five stories #4: A Palm Tree Sunset

Elaine of  ‘I used to be indecisive’ blog, has nominated me to do the ‘5 Photos, 5 Stories’ challenge. Today I’m sharing a spectacular sunset sky viewed last year from our hotel in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica.

We had good news last night when we checked our status regarding the ‘Green Cards’. They were mailed yesterday! Looks like we’re going to be able to make it to South Africa for Mom’s 90th. Thanks for all your positive vibes sent my way. Those of you who’ve been crossing fingers, eyes and other body parts can now relax a little.  🙂

Today, I am nominating Nia of ‘PhotographyofNia’ blog to do the challenge, which is quite simply to “post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”. Of course there’s no obligation to do the challenge; only if you would like to join in.

Five Photos, Five Stories #3: Under the Boardwalk

Elaine of  ‘I used to be indecisive’ blog, has nominated me to do the ‘5 Photos, 5 Stories’ challenge. Yesterday I showed you my two granddaughters getting acquainted with Mr. Leo, but just a bit further along, there was someone else waiting to greet them. This was something they hadn’t seen before, and they were so fascinated by his scaly body and cute smile.

Today, I would like to nominate Carol of ‘Which Way Now’ blog. She posts photos from her extensive travels, which I’m sure you’ll find really interesting.

Five Photos, Five Stories: Happy Mothers’ Day

Elaine of  ‘I used to be indecisive’ blog, has nominated me to do the ‘5 Photos, 5 Stories’ challenge. Here’s my first photo, with the story behind it.

My mom and sister are in South Africa, and today sister went to visit mom for Mothers’ Day. She sent me this photo of mom with the flowers from me and a delicious chocolate cake, for which my sister is famous.

I set my alarm for 5am so that I could phone mom before she had lunch and went for her afternoon nap. She could hardly talk as her voice is very weak, but I was able to wish her a happy Mothers’ Day, and tell her how much I love her. Those of you who follow my blog will know that it’s mom’s 90th birthday on 26th of this month, and that I’m keeping my fingers crossed that our Green Cards will arrive in time for us to travel over to be there for the celebration.

Wishing all you Moms a very happy day today.

The challenge is quite simply to “post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”. My nomination today is Lisa of Northwest Frame of Mind blog, who always has interesting images to share. Of course, there’s no obligation to join in. It’s entirely up to you.
