Wordless Wednesday: Count the Penguins!

No, I haven’t disappeared off the face of the earth. The internet on board ship is very scarce and also expensive, so I’m going to have to start posting all my photos of our wonderful trip, when we get back home to Florida, which is only in a couple of weeks’ time.

Today we are at Cooper Bay, South Georgia. It’s very cold and snowy, but the Gentoo Penguins are out in force.

Just for good measure, here’s an iceberg as big as our ship.

Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday and a very Happy New Year. Tomorrow we are due to land on South Georgia Island.

Wordless Wednesday: A Wonderful Sight

Just thought I’d pop in to report that my eye is now completely healed. It’s so nice to be able to take photos again.

I must go down to the sea again,
to the lonely sea and the sky;
I left my shoes and socks there –
I wonder if they’re dry?ย  ~ Spike Milligan

Happy Wednesday to you all.

Wordless Wednesday: The Dancer

โ€œListen to the trees as they sway in the wind. Their leaves are telling secrets. Their bark sings songs of olden days as it grows around the trunks. And their roots give names to all things. Their language has been lost. But not the gestures.โ€ โ€“ Vera Nazarian (The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration)

Happy Wednesday to you all.

Wordless Wednesday: The Car Park Hustling Duck

Coming out of CVS Pharmacy yesterday, I was accosted by this stranger, who insisted on following me to my car.

He was wordless as he wagged his tail feathers at me and positioned himself so that I couldn’t get into the car without stepping over him. I was worried that if I opened the door, he might just hop in, or worse still give me a peck. I shooed him but to no avail. I gave him a gentle nudge with my foot, and he stubbornly stood his ground. I even considered scooting round to the passenger door and climbing across the centre console. You would have laughed to see me trying to lead him away from the car and then quickly walking back, hoping to escape from my overly persistent would-be friend. Luckily after a few minutes, another woman/victim appeared. She was eating a bag of potato chips and suddenly I was off the hook. As I drove away, I could see my feathered friend had transferred his affections and was wagging his tail feathers furiously at her. I couldn’t help but smile.

Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday.ย  P.S. I thought at first this was Turkey Vulture, but now I’m thinking it was actually a Muscovy Duck. Never seen one up close before.
