Yesterday evening whilst having dinner, I looked up at the setting sun and saw this fantastical figure riding through the sky. Can you also see the cherub face and the fluffy wings?
Did you know that there is name for the phenomenon of seeing faces and other images in the clouds? It’s called ‘Pareidolia’. If you also ‘suffer’ from this happy condition, you’re not alone.Β There is a cloud appreciation society which has over 8,000 members.

It took me a second, but I found that sweet face!
Thanks, Elisa. Glad you found it. π
Love the idea of a Cloud Appreciation Society…I’m imagining 8000 people lying on the grass together and looking up at the sky!
That’s really cute. I love it! π
I love when the sky is magical like the one in your photo. Great capture !!! π
Thanks so much, Issy. π
I think I lost my Pareidolla when I got older. But wait! Do they have a name for the one with rock formations? π
I think it’s still called Pareidolia.
Hi S – just saw this video over on forthemo’s blog and the “pareidolia” in it reminded me of your post hereβ¦.

Thanks for the link, Yvette. Fascinating. π
π – hope you enjoy time with your family

Cloud Appreciation Society! I hadn’t heard of it, I would have been a great member in my youth when I had time to lay down on the grass and stare at the sky. Great picture!
I see things in clouds…but usually not what others see. That’s why I prefer a cloudy sky to a clear one–so much more to look at! π
Me too, Lorna. Clouds are always fascinating to watch and certainly stir the imagination. π
I see a hefty heffalump with a trunk pointing to the left.
Well that’s different, Nancy. π³
I too suffer of Pareidolia. π
Hehehe. I fear it’s an incurable condition. π
I saw a plate of Lasagna and a cold beer. But then I’m a bit odd as , I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now.
tra la la…. π
Fa la la Yes. I have no doubt that you are a trifle odd. π
Trifle, cheesecake, lemon meringue.
Take your pick …. all yummy!

A place where I belong and a name for my happy condition. Yippee! Huge smiles and hugs.
Hahaha. I’m really happy to oblige. *hugs* π
Enjoy your family time! That was also a great pic!
How beautiful.
Thanks, Amy. Happy that you enjoyed seeing it. π
well I see a dino too – or a dragon – or mashed potatoes – jk – but it is truly beautiful S π
π
Amazing Sylvia, it’s really magical.
Thank you. Glad you like my photo. π
I am inclined to the poodle theory, or the heart or the dinosaur. Clouds are fun.
Yes they are lots of fun. They can be anything you want them to be. π
I’m definitely a member. Great catch there!
Thanks Gunta, and welcome to to club. π
Beautiful photo. Since childhood, I have always enjoyed picking out shapes in the clouds. It is a fun thing to do.
Thanks, Sheila. Yes, I’ve always found clouds really fascinating too. π
Guess I’m a club candidate. Elvis hair popped out first then a sweet cherub face. I love to cloud gaze. βοΈβ οΈβοΈ π
I’m so happy you see the cherub face, Lynne. The Elvis hair is a bit ‘over the top’. π
What a cool picture of the cherub-Elvis π I guess I’m a non-registered member of that society…
Thanks, Tiny. Welcome to the club. π
I couldn’t see it for a minute and then it practically jumped out of the sky. Who knew the ability actually had a name, and a club! Thanks for sharing Sylvia. Learned something new today that’s for sure.
Oh, that’s made my day, Sue. π Yes we do seem to learn something new every day from our blog friends.
Just lovely!
Thanks, Constance. π
I saw Elvis until you pointed out there was a cherub – and I saw it! Maybe the cherub has Elvis hair. π
As children, we would lie in the field next door and stare up at the sky and see something/someone in every cloud that floated (or blew on the windy days) by.
Lovely childhood memories, Maddie. Try as I might, I can’t see Elvis, even with a cherub face. π
I think I see a man wearing a hat.
Oh, no.. I got the Pareidolia disaese too π
Hahaha. That’s good to know. π
I love cloud watching and seeing what appears [however briefly] as they roam across the sky
Me too, Jo. I see faces in almost everything. π
It looks fantastic! Glad you had your camera.
Thanks, Ute. My camera is always on the table when we’re eating at the table by the window. π
I’m not in that club, I don’t see anything.
I find that incredible. π
Then I am a suffer too! π
Haha. Glad to hear it. π
They are truly magical – and yes, I see it! π
Happy and magical new week, Sylvia! π
Thanks, Marina. I think as an artist, you are bound to see strange and wondrous things when you look at nature. π xx
π
yes i do! and a heart, too! great capture Sylvia. π
I’m happy you can also see my cherub. π
Awww, it’s a fat little fantasy pony, having a frolic in the sky!
Yes, I can also see your cute pony, Connie. π
I saw a chicken with a large head, and β¦ paws? So then I couldn’t see anything else!
Hahaha I’m not even going to look for your chicken as it will spoil my cherub illusion. π
Awesome cloud structure Sylvia!
Thanks, Mary. π
At first I saw a dinosaur, then a dog begging for a treat . Wonderful cloud!
Thanks, Lisa. I don’t see the dinosaur, but the begging dog, I do see. π
The dinosaur I see is a T Rex- with those funny short front legs!
π
Clouds and sunset are lovely.I can look at them houres and houres.
Yes, I so agree with you, Marylou. π
Oh, I definitely see the face..a profile right? Great shot, Sylvia!
Thanks, Jill. You and I are obviously on the same wavelength. π
Scary thought! π
For you or for me? π
For you…to think like me. π
No comment. π
Beaut
Thanks, bulldog. π
It isn’t there, but it makes me think of a poodle π
π
I agree. I see a poodle Sylvia π β€
Well you’d better not tell your cats. π
A heart.. a cute dino… so many ways to see this π
Yes, I guess we all see things differently, Andy. Iβm not surprised that you saw a heart. π
Guess I’m just that kinda guy heh! π
