Peering out through my kitchen window yesterday, I spotted Alli-baba cruising by. Oh my, how he’s grown since I last saw him!
I read that one can gauge the length of an alligator by guessing (or somehow actually measuring) the distance between the tip of their nose to their eyes and then converting that measurement from inches to feet. Without going so far as to swim out there with my tape measure, I’m thinking this one is probably close to 15 feet. If any of you disagree with me, you are most welcome to measure for yourself. I’ll even fetch you from the airport. You’ll probably only need a one-way ticket.
Have a splendid weekend.

I love alligators from the comfort of my breakfast table but would be very frightened to be near enough to measure one. Your rough estimate is close enough for me
That’s okay by me, Lisa. You can trust my judgment. 😅😘
From your kitchen window!!!
Yes, not from my bathroom window this time. 😅
And 15 ft is like 5 meters? (for the non-metric impaired)
Ali-Baba! I’d forgotten its name… Not comfortable with gators. Just remind me a trip in Uganda to Murchison falls, on one of the Nile branches. Packed with crocs, and those guys can run very fast, contrary to literature… 🙂
Yes, I believe they can run fast in a straight line, so if you’re ever chased by one, be sure to run in a zig-zag fashion. 😅
Or maybe get a big gun? 😬
Or a 15 ft pole?
Joke “Did you know that alligators can grow up to fifteen feet, but most of them only have four?” 😀
LOl. I didn’t know that one. Doesn’t work in meters. 😎
Yes, must be an American joke. 🤣
He’s big, but with cute eyes 😸Pawkisses for a Happy Wednesday🐾😽💞
Thanks so much, Binky. He also has BIG teeth. 😯 xxx
🙈😸Pawkisses🐾😽💞
Awesome reflective shot, and I don’t care to remeasure, I fully trust yours, Sylvia! 😉
Thanks, Donna. I’m flattered that you trust my calculations. 😅
I take you at your word, so I won’t be visiting you any time soon. 🙂
Looks like no one wants to visit me. 😳😢
I snickered a bit at the one-way ticket part. Lovely photo.
Tee hee Thanks, Amy. 🙂
I wil take your word for it on the measuring – hahaha
Very wise decision, Yvette. 🙂
Haaaa
I’ll believe you Sylvia 🙂 I was never good at Math or estimations … so no trip to the airport needed !
Thank you, Poppy. I’m glad you’re not going to sacrifice yourself to proving me wrong or right. 😅
Wonderful title as I’d say he’s pretty good sized.
Thanks, Ruth. Yes, he certainly isn’t small. 😃
Ali looks quite tall to me! Who needs measuring? I will not go closer to him at all!
From a safe distance is good for me too. 😃
😀
My goodness, that’s close to 5 metres. I’d be staying clear of Ali I think.
I’m happy for him to stay in the water. 😃
That is a scary but wonderful view!
Thanks, Sue. It’s always scarily exciting to see him out and about. 😃
Oh, I bet it is! 😀
I don’t think I want to measure. 😉
That’s okay with me, Lynette. I’d miss you here on the blogs. 😅
He looks very quiet but I don’t think I will contest your measurements. 🙂
A wise decision. Looks can be deceiving. 😃
No thanks, Sylvia; the pictures are all the proof I need! 😀
Very wise, Dries, although it would have been nice to meet you. 😃
We’ll come visit you and appreciate Alibaba’s considerable dimensions from afar 😀
So Alli isn’t a Babba anymore!,😄😄
It would seem not, Sue. 😳
Yikes
I’ll take your word for it and I’m so glad you don’t go swimming in that pond.
Thanks, Gunta. I can’t really swim, so it would be a double no-no. 😳
Yep… a one-way ticket!!!!! 😉 😂🤣😂🤣
Have a lovely weekend! xoxoxo
Hehe Thanks, Marina. 😘🤗
…I’m obviously taking your word for it! 😉
Haha………Good choice, Marina. 😅
😬 😉
I’m happy to take your word for the fellow’s age…big enough anyway!
Yes, I agree that he’s definitely “big enough” but he’ll probably grow a bit more. 🙂
Laughing at this! I don’t think any one will be taking up your invitation somehow …
Tee hee…………Glad I gave you a laugh, Anabel. 😀
He is a big beauty!
He is and perfectly content minding his own business. 😃
Eek! We jump with the odd rat in our backyards, Sylvia! 😳
🤣
Now, I would really draw the line at a rat! 😳
And some of them seem to be as big as Alli-baba as well!
😯 Yikes!
No way, I take your word for it….. Enjoy your weekend ❤️
Thanks so much, Ute. xx
‘You’ll probably only need a one way ticket’ haha that was funny! I’ve never seen an alligator that I can remember, except maybe at a zoo, but I wouldn’t like to say for sure!!! Thanks for sharing your photos!
Yes, I do have a bit of a weird sense of humor. 😅Thanks for visiting.
How do you work in feet so effortlessly.. 😉
Well, we have been living here for eight years, so have become bilingual to some extent. 😅
Happy to take your word for it! 🐊
I don’t blame you, Sheree. 😅
I have to agree with your measurement. I would not want to actually get out there and use measuring tape on him for sure.
I don’t think anyone is up for the challenge. 🤣😳
There’s no doubt in my mind that he is a big alligator!
Can’t argue with that.
Thanks, Eddie. It would have been nice to meet you though. 😃
Yes it would
