One Word Sunday: Body

When I saw Debbie’s ‘One Word’ for this Sunday, ‘Body’, I immediately thought of a body of water. I have many photos which show a body of water, but this one is quite unique in that it also shows a very fit human body in the foreground. On one of our walks along the beachfront in Umhlanga, we happened upon this athletic body who was “just cooling down” after his three-mile morning run. He very kindly agreed to make an extra effort and repeat the performance so that I could get a photo. He told me that he was now fifty-years-old and at one time an Olympic gymnast. He kept fit by not eating junk food and exercising regularly. Some of you may have seen this on my blog a few years ago, but it’s definitely worth a second look.

I hope you’re all having a happy and healthy Sunday.

One Word Sunday: Wet

Debbie’s ‘One Word Sunday Challenge’ is Wet and who hasn’t got some photos featuring water?

Here is where I would really like to be at the moment, in Umhlanga sitting on a bench looking out at the Indian Ocean.

Here in Florida, there are many birds who enjoy getting wet, like Mr Peli.

Last spring we spotted a few wet baby alligators enjoying a swim.

If you want to see a serious amount of wetness, then go to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Although it’s neither the widest nor highest waterfall in the world, it still happens to be the world’s largest sheet of falling water, and you can’t get much wetter than that.

Hope you’re all having a great Sunday.

One Word Sunday: Where?

If it weren’t for the Coronavirus scare around the world, this is where hubby and I would be headed right now. A daily walk along the beach, checking out my favourite lighthouse along the way.

I wonder when it will be possible and safe to travel again? I know the saying, “East, West, home is best,” but it’s also nice to have a change of scenery.

Wishing you all a perfect Sunday as you’re maybe also dreaming of what you’d rather be doing.

Pull Up A Seat At The Beach

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge’ is now in its 43rd week and I’m really enjoying taking part in it.

I’ve chosen a few seats at the beach for this week. On a trip back home from Key West, we stopped for lunch at a beach restaurant in Islamarada. The grandchildren had fun playing on this swinging seat. Little Max swung it so hard that we had to rescue the salt and pepper pots.

These shady seats on the beach there also looked very inviting.

Back in Umhlanga, South Africa, a couple were enjoying sitting on one of the many benches, watching the waves and a lone fisherman.

Further along that same promenade, this guy didn’t look terribly comfortable lying on a hard wooden bench. Maybe he was working his abs.

Here’s a very rustic picnic spot on the beach in Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica.

Our resort in Phuket had a lovely balcony with seats and umbrellas overlooking the beach.

Pull Up A Seat And Admire The View

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge’ is now into its 40th week and seems to be gaining in popularity.

This week, I dug up some photos from my travels, the first of which was taken  in Puerto Montt, Chile. This larger than life statue is set on the boardwalk of a beautiful bay. I guess it’s supposed to be a loving couple looking out to sea,  but somehow it misses its mark as they both look really miserable.

Along the highway in Ambato, Ecuador, a stark-naked young lady was perched on what looked like a very uncomfortable seat, holding out flowers to the passing throng. She must have been about thirty feet high, so very hard to miss.

Costa Rica can get very colourful and here, the local police seemed to be taking it easy even though they weren’t actually sitting on the bench.

Also in Costa Rica was this beautifully decorated church with the seemingly obligatory hard wooden pews. I often wondered when I was a child, whether having such uncomfortable seating was some sort of penance for our sins.

Now here at the Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga, is a much more comfortable place to sit and meditate and it certainly has a view to die for.

I hope you’re all having a great week. Now that it’s autumn here in Florida I keep waiting for the weather to cool down, but it seems to be be taking its time about it.

Pull Up A Seat And Enjoy

For XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge’ this week, I’ve chosen seating for welcome refreshments.

Afternoon tea was very welcome when we visited my Mom-in-law the week before her 106th birthday.

Only one more day left here at the beach before our 600 km drive up to our daughter’s house in Johannesburg. It’s been a wonderful month with lots of time spent with my sister and good friends. The sound of the crashing waves is music to my ears, something  I’m really going to miss,

Six Word Saturday: This Beach Is To Die For.

This beach is definitely “to die for” but his partner, busy on her cell phone hasn’t even noticed. I hope he was only playing dead.

Here I am in Umhlanga South Africa, enjoying the ocean views, the sound of the crashing waves and of course, the daily sighting of my number one favourite lighthouse.

It’s good to be back here and to spend time with my one and only sister Yvonne. We’ve have some really fun outings together, involving lots of eating, chatter and laughter.

I haven’t found much time for blogging, but have enjoyed visiting some of your blogs. Wishing you all a very happy Wednesday.

Pull Up A Seat And Relax

It’s time once again for XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge’.

Here are a few images of relaxing places to sit a while.

Cats have purr-fected the art of relaxing, and Ravioli who rules my daughter’s house in Johannesburg, is no exception.

This Siamese had commandeered a comfortable place to spend the afternoon.

Watching the waves is a very relaxing sport and one which I’m hoping to do a lot of whilst in South Africa.

Sitting watching the sun set over Montego Bay is a very fond memory for me.

I’m so looking forward to seeing my Mom-in-law in England next week. She’s not looking too bad for almost 106.
