One Word Sunday: Gaggle

Debbie’s ‘One Word Sunday-Gaggle’ reminded me of our Antarctic trip for our 50th Anniversary four years ago. The sheer number of penguins to be seen as our ship neared the shore was quite mind-boggling and I think certainly qualifies as a ‘Gaggle’.

A little closer and we got a better perspective.

Actually the collective noun for a group of penguins is really ‘a waddle’ for obvious reasons.

Pull Up A Seat And Freeze Your Butt Off

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge Week 8’ had me thinking of really cool seats that I’ve seen and experienced.

Visiting Tahoe for Christmas 2018, I sat on this stone wall. The icy cold even found it’s way through my three layers of clothes.

I’m sure these two locals were used to the cold and probably met here most days for a chat.

On a previous Christmas visit to our son in New Jersey, this was the view through his family room window.

However, the coolest seat I ever sat on was this one in Antarctica.

Cee’s B&W Photo Challenge: Side Of Things

Cee’s B&W challenge this week is ‘View from The Side’. Here are a couple of photos I took on the Antarctic cruise hubby and I did for our 50th wedding anniversary in 2016.

Here’s the side view of one of the many thousands of penguins we saw on our travels.

This side view of the icy coastline was taken from our balcony as we sailed along. I hardly had  to edit these, as they were  already monochrome .

Pull Up A Seat: Icy and Warm

For XingfuMama’s “Pull Up A Seat Challenge” this week, I thought I show you two extremes of  seating options. This icy ‘bench’ in Antarctica was absolutely the coolest seat I ever sat upon.

After our trip, we flew home via Palm Beach airport, where I found these hot-pink seats welcoming us back home again.
