I’m so excited that we’ll soon be heading back to our home in Florida. We’ll be going via England, in order to visit my MiL, who at 101 is still fighting fit. I’m so looking forward to seeing her again, and then after our visit with her, we’ll be on our way to Miami. Or tickets are all booked and seats reserved, so we’ll soon be flying out of here. Wouldn’t it be great to have our own wings like these beautiful water birds which feature quite a lot in my Florida posts? Here are just a few of the feathered friends I’ve been missing, for Charlotte’s ‘Feathers on Friday Challenge’.

The great blue is my favourite. You are not going to have a dull moment in your house by the river Sylvia.
My favourite too, Madhu. I hope there are lots of birds, just waiting for me to get back. 🙂
Beautiful captures, Sylvia! They are all great but I especially like the Snake Bird. 🙂
Thanks so much, Jackie. 🙂
Absolutely stunning shots of these beauties Sylvia. I can only imagine you excited you must be to go back to Florida. Have fun and be safe hon. 😀
♥ Hugs ♥
Thanks so much, Sonel. Hugs to you too. 🙂 xx
Wonderful captures! Looking forward to more like these once you’re settled in Florida 🙂
Thanks, Inga. I’m sure that there’ll be lots more. 🙂
Lovely birds. 🙂 Welcome to the same continent. 🙂
I mean. “Welcome back” to the continent.
Thanks, Imelda. 🙂
These were taken on our last visit. We’ll be back soon though.
Nice collection of photos. Is the unidentified one a cormorant?
Thanks, John. Sorry, I forgot to do the caption the caption. It’s an Anhinga, sometimes called a Snake Bird. They do look very similar to Cormorants, but Anhingas have pointed bills while cormorants have a hooked bill.
What wonderful birds. I particularly love the Roseate Spoonbill.
Thanks, Sarah. Yes the pink feathers are so beautiful. 🙂
I like the White Ibis the most with the pink-ish bill. Now, I feel girly. Excuse me as brand some cows.. 🙂 I’ll be back.
I’m sure I’d never suspect you of being “girly” even if you’d said that you like the pink feathers of the Spoonbill. 🙂
All beautiful birds!
Oh how exciting you must be getting as the date approaches.
So nice that you will be visiting your mil before heading to the US.
{Hugs}
Thanks, RoSy. Yes, it is exciting. 🙂 Hugs back at you. xx
Roseate Spoonbill. Very pretty. 🙂
Always so nice to hear the MiL in doing well. Enjoy!
Thanks, Gemma. Yes she is so blessed to have such good health, and we’re so blessed to have her. 🙂
It’s as though you’re living in a sanctuary, Sylvia – fantastic 🙂
Thanks, Meredith. It does feel that way, with all the beautiful birds we get there. 🙂
Great photo’s of this birds .They dont live here in freedom
Thanks, Marylou. 🙂
Ah, lovely feathers, Sylvia!!! :- Happy weekend! 🙂
Thanks, Marina. Happy weekend to you too. 🙂
It is always good to see the wild life especially birds as these. I recalled seeing an alligator or rattle snakes in Fl.
Yes it is, YC. I’ve not come across any rattlesnakes as yet, thank goodness. 🙂
Wow! What wonderful images. Seems like you’re just itching to get back there.
Thanks, Gunta. Yes, you read me very well. 🙂
Ahh wonderful. I’m sorry England is going to be a bit chilly!
Thanks, Gilly. When we visit England, I’m prepared for all eventualities weather-wise. My case will contain, sandals, boots, bikinis, jerseys, umbrella and sunglasses. I think I’ll leave out the kitchen sink. 🙂
I’m sure you must be really excited to go back!
Yes, I most certainly am. 🙂
So you will be in your bird paradise soon 🙂 Which species is your favourite? I am fascinated with spoonie 🙂
That’s right, Paula, and I can hardly wait. The Great Blue Heron is my all time favourite. He’s such a character. 🙂
🙂 I can only see some of them at our local zoo. Herons are free, not caged in unlike spoonies and others and they often land by seals’ pool to look for fish 😀
Bon voyage! Have a save trip!
Thanks, Carol. We only leave South Africa on 16th September. Lots to do and people to see before then. 🙂
The like won’t stick but your feathered friends are fabulous!
Thanks, so much, Cindy. Likes are nice, but comments are awesome. 🙂 xx
Have fun and be safe! 🙂
Thanks so much, Lisa. 🙂
Are these birds to be found near your new home in Florida?
Oh yes, we get lots of birds right in our back yard. The first three were taken in a nature reserve just a couple of miles down the road, and the last four, outside our present home there, not the one we still have to renovate. 🙂
What a beautiful spot you have chosen to go to then.
Not long now Sylvia! Wouldn’t it be great to fly like these beauties? Lovely photos. Have a great weekend 🙂 xx
Thanks, Sherri. Yes, a pair of wings wouldn’t go amiss. 🙂 Only a month now until we’re back in Florida. 🙂 Happy weekend to you too. xx
Eeeeeeeeeee…!!! Thanks Sylvia 🙂 xx

Having tried my luck with birds, I know it’s more than that my friend. Well done!
I think that mine are just very well behaved. 😀
It’s hard to believe it’s been another year, and your mother-in-law is now 101!! Amazing. Good for her. I’m sure you’re happy to be going home to Florida. These bird photos would make anyone homesick. They’re beautiful! 🙂
Thanks, Cathy. Yes, the year has really flown by, and she’s still as sprightly as ever. 🙂 Glad you liked my birds. xx
